5 Mistakes Keeping You From Clear Skin
The habits that quietly undo everything else you're doing.
1. Over-exfoliating
Scrubs, acids and a cleansing brush in the same week strip your barrier. A compromised barrier looks red, feels tight and breaks out more, not less. Exfoliate 1-2 times a week maximum and let your skin rebuild in between.
2. Skipping SPF
Every brightening product you own is wasted without daily sunscreen. UV drives pigmentation, texture and premature ageing - even indoors near windows and on cloudy days. Broad spectrum SPF 30+ every single morning, reapplied if you are outside.
3. Using too many products at once
Retinol, vitamin C, an acid toner and three serums layered together means you can never tell what is working. Build in stages: cleanse, treat with one active, hydrate, protect. Add one new product at a time and give it four weeks.
4. Treating the wrong skin type
Most oily skin is actually dehydrated and overproducing oil to compensate. Stripping it with harsh foaming cleansers makes it worse. Confirm your true skin type and Fitzpatrick before you choose actives - that is exactly what a consultation is for.
5. Quitting before the skin cycle finishes
Skin turns over roughly every 28 days, slower as you age. Real change shows at 6-12 weeks. Purging in week two is not failure. Take a photo every Sunday in the same light and judge progress monthly, not daily.
